CANDIDATE STATEMENT – PRESIDENT

GARY “ALEX” BETTS

I will strive to bring better representation of all members of TCEA, and to advocate hard for basic benefits like COLA and training that has been lacking for many years. We deserve to be valued and respected as employees for this City.

KEVIN CALLAHAN

Dear TCEA Members,

I am honored to seek re-election as your President. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a board member, where I’ve engaged in critical discussions and negotiations. This experience has taught me the delicate balance of being both a leader and a supervisor.

My main goal is to secure a fair wage increase and comprehensive benefits package in the upcoming contract negotiations. This isn’t just for us, but for the betterment of all TCEA members, helping us retain valuable staff and attract new, highly qualified employees to the City of Turlock.

I’m not just a dedicated union leader; I’m a father of three sons and a proud grandfather of five grandsons and three granddaughters. This personal connection reinforces my commitment to ensure the best for our TCEA family.

I’m known for my open ears and open heart. When you have concerns, I’m here to listen and work through the issues with you. If necessary, I won’t hesitate to involve our union attorney. I refuse to settle for anything less than what’s best for all TCEA members. I don’t back down because I’m committed to doing what’s right for each and every one of you.

With your support, I will continue to lead with integrity, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to TCEA’s future. Together, we can achieve the fairness and progress we all deserve.

Thank you for your trust and the opportunity to serve you.

Respectfully

Kevin S Callahan

CANDIDATE STATEMENTS – BOARD MEMBERS

SHAWN DAVIDSON

Hi my name is Shawn Davidson and I am running for the position of board member for the TCEA. I have been with the city approximately 23 plus years working at the wastewater treatment plant and I have served on the board as a member for the last 4 years. During my previous term I have attended 98% of all meetings and worked hard to negotiate a 14% cost of living increase on our last contract, even if it meant attending on my days off. I feel like I’ve just started and would love to continue to serve and support the interests of TCEA members by advocating for higher wages and better employee benefits. Thank you for considering my nomination to the TCEA board.

KIM HAMMACK

Hello Fellow TCEA Members,

My Name is Kim Hammack. I have been a City employee for 18 years. 7 of those years I have spent serving as the Secretary for TCEA Board of Directors.

During my time on the Board I was active in our membership meetings; taking detailed and accurate minutes, involved in fruitful negotiations, and did my best to fight for what was right for our membership as a whole. I also took pride in creating and maintaining the TCEA website; allowing mass email notifications, online access to minutes and budget reports, online voting and more. This function has kept our membership not only informed, but involved.

Our membership is preparing to enter a pivotal time and I believe my Board knowledge and history would be an instrumental part in helping guide our association through the upcoming negotiations.

I feel I have served our membership well over the years as Secretary and would be honored to continue to serve as Board Member.  If elected I hope to continue the mission and goal of our Board; transparency from the City to its employees, fair polices and processes, competitive wages and benefits, thoughtful MOU language and creating a strong membership, because we are strong; but together we are stronger.
